CHARACTER DESIGN

Original characters for a story I was writing. This was also the time I first began experimenting with digital painting. At this point I was drawing with graphite, then scanning the images and coloring them in Photoshop using the mouse (I didn't own a drawing tablet yet).

The following are characters from video games, cartoons and comic books:

GREEK MYTHS

Characters from Greek mythology.

Later on when I began grad school, I used the drawing of Medusa to begin learning digital painting:

COATLICUE

I took a stone lithography course as an undergrad. I found it interesting, but frustrating. This is a character from Aztec mythology.

COLLEGE PAINTING

I studied with water-based oils in college. This is the only painting I kept track of.

COLLEGE LIFE DRAWING

Work from life drawing courses I took as an undergrad.

VETERANS MEMORIAL

I was commissioned to create a promotional rendering of this monument for publication in a local newspaper.

Construction on it had not yet begun; I was given the 2D blueprints, and tasked with translating the schematics into an illustration. The memorial was constructed in St. Germain, Wisconsin.
