I hold a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After studying for a year at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, I transferred to UW-Madison, where I became passionate about issues related to anthropology and sociology, including LGBT studies for which I obtained a certificate. Interdisciplinary research broadened my world view, and informed and enhanced my art practice.
My training has been in traditional drawing and painting, and I currently explore computer mediated art such as digital illustration, photo manipulation and graphic design; and to a lesser degree, Flash animation and 3D computer modeling. My work is varied, but I am consistently interested in the figure, the human condition, mythology and science. Eschewing a clear distinction between “high” and “low” art, I embrace both commercial and fine art; my work bridges these worlds, drawing inspiration from sources as diverse as religious texts, classic literature, video games and Internet subcultures.
